So now we have 5 loudspeakers scattered around the lounge, together with a box that generates nearly as much thump as the common taxi (subwoofer). These are all connected to the 5.1 home theatre amplifier with wiring resembling Christmas decorations, providing sound so powerful that the neighbours’ dogs start howling whenever it is switched on. The TV is connected via the best possible connection to the amplifier or DVD player providing a picture so good that you almost want to reach out and touch it. Not quite! DVD does provide a satisfying experience. It involves you more, it places you closer to the scene, and it creates the atmosphere of almost being there. Almost I say, because this is not HD. |

Do you remember watching a DVD for the first time? Video WOW! Sound WOW! Experience WOW! High Definition or Huge Difference, as I would like to call it, is a major leap in the quality of video, audio and overall experience that is, home theatre. But… You say. I think DVD is great! I’ve got my stereo amplifier and loudspeakers connected to my DVD player. I’ve got my 74cm TV connected as well. The picture is perfect, the sound is perfect. Perfection is relative, perfection is never achievable! Try adding a surround sound amplifier with surround loudspeakers, try connecting the TV using component cables rather than composite. Try adding a subwoofer to give that extra bit of Ooomph to the experience. Why stop there? |
